Please accept this letter on behalf of (personal or organization name) as our pledge of full support of the allocation of $1.9 million of the State Capital Budget Bill for the completion of the Towpath Trail Extension Project in Cuyahoga County, and to ensure that this allotment is neither reduced nor eliminated during the final days of the State Capital Budgeting process.
The completion of the Towpath Trail and Greenway in Cuyahoga County is critical to the current and future economic, social, and environmental health of our County and its residents. This project represents a strong public-private collaboration to re-open the heart of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County to its residents. This final stretch of the Towpath Trail provides the essential connection from the existing 110-miles of trail to the shores of Lake Erie. This project will also advance economic development, revitalize neighborhoods, provide safe recreational opportunities, alternative transportation routes, and enhance green infrastructure in the county.
Given the density and complexity of the urban neighborhoods that this six-mile extension will traverse, this final stretch will be one of the most resource- and capital- intensive endeavors of the entire Towpath Trail. The State’s appropriation introduced in this Bill is therefore vital to the completion of this project. Thank you for the opportunity to advance such a meaningful project.
